Vol. 24 No. 48 January 22-24, 2010 issue has an article about Professor Micah Goodman. This professor was hosted by the Israeli Consulate to discuss the idea of Zionism.

Professor Goodman states there are two original strands of Zionism:

  1. Zionism of Peace-a view that Israel is a safe haven for Jews. Theodore Herzl-The joining of “The Brotherhood of Nations”.
  2. Zionism of Land-Rav Kook, the return to the mystical land of our forefathers. Not fighting negative, but celebrating positive.

The problem is that “The Brotherhood of Nations” as Theodore Herzl calls it has At this point in time in “History”, Israel looks like an example of violence. Zionism is under attack because of the lack of Borders and the examples of violence and persecution by what the world calls “The People of God”.

We can be “People of God”, even “Children of God”, but we must also consult God in our decision making. Talking to God is what makes our relationship to and with “Him”.

, like the other members of what Theodore Herzl calls, “The Brotherhood of Nations”.

The Southern California Community Links Magazine’s January 1- January 15, 2010 Vol. 5 Issue 146 page 4 has a great quote from Rabbi Yanki Tauber (Jewish):

True achievement is possible only under conditions of absolute freedom. A person must be in full control of his or her life, free of any constraints and hindrances. But being “in control” breed complacency and spiritual laziness; only when challenged and oppressed, only when compelled to resist and battle “overpowering” circumstances, does the human being rise to and actualize his or her true potential.

Rabbi Yanki Tauber

A response to number 18 The Fake Enemy from Americanj0200547 Theorist Tres Mali Scott:

I believe when the free and in control lean about the past and the struggles others endured they may also rise as a human being and actualize to his or her true potential. That is why reading was denied the United States of America Slaves.

An ignorant person and a derogatory term used towards Blacks and Africans from slavery.

During slavery, Blacks and Africans were denied the ability to read, which literally is ignorance.

j0303587 Management and Leadership are positions of authority that require conflict resolution, critiquing, conferencing and other communication. Cameras are now as small as a cell phone. Company surveillance is a part of the security systems that secure expensive equipment, as well as monitor employee behavior.

Washington Monthly’s November 2009 issue has an article about how London has about a million surveillance cameras.

‘Two years ago I warned that we were in danger of sleepwalking into a surveillance society,’ said the British information commissioner. ‘Today I fear that we are in fact waking up to a surveillance society that is already all around us’ (Malanowski, 2009).

And employees in large and small companies are waking up to surveillance employment that is already all around us. Data bases that check the computer systems we use, some employment is terminated as a result of improper computer use.

Movies have been made that reflect the use of surveillance equipment to monitor crime, many years ago it did not seem as possible as it is. The police are not the only thing clocking your driving speed, so is a camera on the traffic light. Malls have cameras systems, some security TVs the customers can see. This new use of technology and advances in technology make the profession of surveillance available to individuals, an example is home security systems. Some homes have outside cameras that monitor the door and garage areas.

Other countries are more honest about the use of surveillance equipment. As Managers and Leaders we must stay up-to-date on surveillance abilities and protect individual’s rights. Management and Leadership also requires in some cases, becoming an advocate. Some surveillance use may be questionable.

Great Lakes Regional Assessment (GLRA) discusses how the ecosystem and natural resources could change. This includes:

  • agriculture,
  • climate,
  • land ecology,
  • water resources,
  • water ecology, and
  • quality of life.

If the Great Lake water levels lower, it would impact shipping and recreational boating. Global warming lessens the snow fall and could also lower water levels. The changes in the lakes temperatures alter the food we make-up of lake algae, which is a major source of food for fish

Armed Conflict No, and one reason the Taliban is winning in the public’s eye is because no one wants to tell what it really means to have a "Civilian Shield". I am a missionary and understand that these groups are very specific in using religion as a part of their name. The Holy Bible tells about concepts that apply to modern day situations:

Those that say they are…but are not…

Whatever it may be. Some of these individuals use Satanism, Witchcraft, and Sorcery’s to attack people in a manner that is difficult to understand.

The word Taliban is a loan word from Arabic and is Pashtu meaning "students". The Taliban or Taleban is a predominately Pashtun, fundamentalist, religious, pro-Wahhaabi, Sunni, Islamist, political movement, that governed Afghanistan from 1996-2001. The Taliban is fighting a guerrilla war against the Afghanistan government, Pakistan, allied NATO (Operation Enduring Freedom), and NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). Afghanistan and Pakistan are bordering countries and the Taliban operate out of both.

Human Rights Watch’s (2008) report on "Troops in Contact" Airstrikes and civilian death in Afghanistan, section VII Recommendations: To Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and other opposition armed groups are:

  1. Cease using civilians as shields
  2. Take all feasible precautions to protect civilians from the effects of attack…
  3. Stop feigning civilian status during attacks…
  4. Affirm commitments to follow international humanitarian law…

Amnesty International’s (2009)  report on Getting Away With Murder? The Impunity of International Forces in Afghanistan, states that the

International Military Forces in Afghanistan include:

  1. Operation Enduring Freedom and
  2. The NATO-led UN mandated International Security Assistance Force (ISAF)

There are other agencies present as well including United Nations Convention Against Torture and Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission…

Para-terrorism a paranormal psychological term that includes the maximum use of technologies including:

  • high-jacking satellite signals…

j0432665 The Little Book Big Profits Series has three books:

  1. The Little Book That Beats The Market,
  2. The Little Book of Value Investing, and
  3. The Little Book of Common Sense Investing.

The Little Book of Common Sense Investing has quotes through out the book that help you remember the concepts. One concept that is repeated throughout the book is:

For every winner, there must be a loser.

The book teaches index investing and a great concept put into a quote:

If I "could only explain things to enough people, carefully enough, thoroughly enough, thoughtfully enough-why, eventually everyone would see, and then everything would be fixed."

The book also shows that these money making theories are not new. from Other People’s Money, by Louis D. Brandeis first published in 1914 to the formation of the first balanced index fund in 1990.

Investing can become fashion and fad, when real formulas are needed.

John C. Bogle the author is the Founder and former CEO of the Vanguard Mutual Fund Group.
